Dear Minister Sajjan:

I am pleased to submit to you our report entitled Support to Bereaved Families: Collaborative Review.  This report is submitted to you pursuant to paragraph 38(1)(b) of the Ministerial Directives respecting the Ombudsman for the Department of National Defence and the Canadian Forces.

This was a collaborative effort from both my office and the Families in Focus Working Group, led by the Director Military Family Services.   This review benefited greatly from the invaluable input provided by CAF families, key stakeholders and CAF members. The report documents the information needs of bereaved families and of the CAF, while reinforcing the need for continuous improvement to the support for bereaved families. The recommendations provide concrete guidance to the CAF for the development of their implementation strategy.

As is standard practice, we will be publishing the report no sooner than 28 days from the date of this letter. As in the past, we will advise your Office of the exact date that we intend to publish.
