Ombudsman Invites Members of Canada’s Defence Community to Annual Awards Ceremony

I would like to take the opportunity to invite all members of Canada’s Defence community to our fourteenth annual commendations ceremony in Ottawa, where we will be presenting three extraordinary individuals with the Liz Hoffman Memorial Commendation.

Liz Hoffman was an investigator with our Office who had a deeply rooted sense of fairness and was a tremendous force for positive change. This commendation allows us to recognize those in the Defence community who, like Liz, are dedicated to helping others and making a difference.

This year’s recipients – Dr. Deborah Elliott, Mrs. Paula Ramsay, and Corporal Frederick Michael Smith (Retired) – have truly gone the extra mile in helping their colleagues resolve a problem or in bringing about significant and lasting change at National Defence and/or the Canadian Armed Forces.

Our commendations ceremony will take place on Thursday, October 22, 2015, at 11:45 a.m. in the Army Officer’s Mess in Ottawa, Ontario (149 Somerset Street West). I hope everyone will consider joining us to recognize the outstanding achievements of three members of our Defence community.

Please inform Ms. Dominique Perreault (Dominique-Emmanuelle.Perreault@forces.gc.ca) if you plan to attend.

Gary Walbourne
