Ombudsman Invites Members of Canada’s Defence Community to the Annual Liz Hoffman commendations ceremony

October 24, 2016 | Message from the Ombudsman

Members of Canada’s Defence community are invited to the Ombudsman’s 15th annual commendations ceremony in Ottawa. I will be presenting four extraordinary individuals with the Liz Hoffman Memorial Commendation.

Liz Hoffman was an investigator with our Office who had a deeply rooted sense of fairness and was a tremendous force for positive change. This commendation allows us to recognize those in the Defence community who, like Liz, are dedicated to helping others and making a difference.

This year’s recipients are Sergeant (Retired) Charles Gutta (who oversaw the cadet summer training camp in Valcartier in 1974), Master Corporal Sébastien Grimard (as Deputy Commandant on assignment with the Valcartier Deployment Support Group), Mrs. Trish Jacobs (Employee Assistance Program Manager and Referral Agent with Maritime Forces Atlantic), and Mr. Yves Dubé (Joint Personnel Support Unit in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Québec). These four recipients translated their dedication and inspiration into action. They changed lives or brought about significant and lasting change at National Defence and the Canadian Armed Forces.

Our commendations ceremony will take place on Thursday, October 27, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. in the Warrant Officers’ and Sergeants’ Mess in Ottawa, Ontario (4 Queen Elizabeth Drive). I hope everyone will consider joining us to recognize the outstanding achievements of four members of our Defence community.

Please inform Ms. Dominique Perreault (Dominique-Emmanuelle.Perreault@forces.gc.ca) if you plan to attend.
