The Ombudsman’s Office has received notification that Public Services and Procurement Canada is working to address all overpayment issues to limit tax implications for 2016. As you may know, the Government of Canada has established a repayment process that will ensure that those who have been overpaid as a result of pay administration issues are treated fairly, and have multiple repayment options to suit their needs and minimize financial hardship. Employees who are in an overpayment situation, can contact the Call Centre at 1‑855‑686‑4729 to make arrangements for the recovery of overpayments.

Information and updates are posted on a regular basis on Public Services and Procurement Canada’s website to help inform employees on what the department is doing to better assist them. As always, the Ombudsman’s Office continues to have other escalation processes at its disposal should you wish to contact us .
