Ombudsman Message Regarding Systemic Racism and Racial Discrimination

My office received a letter from the Minister of National Defence asking for possible actions that could be taken to investigate racism and racial discrimination in the Canadian Armed Forces.

We are currently reviewing the matter to determine potential avenues of investigation and timelines. When our review is completed, we will provide a response to the Minister.

It should be noted that our mandate does not give us the authority to investigate any matter which could be considered criminal activity.
